All plastic can be recycled. The issue is whether or not it is economically feasible to recycle particular types and grades of plastic.

- The majority of plastic bottles are made from petroleum
- Between 7-8% of fossil fuels is used to make plastics materials
- A third of its volume is the amount of petroleum used to make one bottle
- A plastic bottle takes over 700 years to decompose
